In September, 1995, seven Catholic homeschooling families met to start a support group in the Fort Worth area. Our homeschooling experience ranged from one month of Kindergarten to 10 years (with high school graduates). We discussed what we wanted in a support group, and how to get it started. To reach out to other Catholic home educators in the area, we scheduled an Open House in October, 1995, and advertised it in the North Texas Catholic and parish bulletins. The response was amazing: we soon had over 30 families on our contact list. Some were thinking about home education; others were already teaching their children at home. At a planning meeting for parents in January, 1996, we made initial decisions about structure, activities, and dues, and divided up the work to be done. At a family pot luck dinner in February, 1996, we decided on a name for the group.
